Sunday was a good time to relax and great old friends as they started to arrive in Bahrain for #GEC2019. The ubiquitous WhatsApp groups have been set up, and the consistent ‘pinging’ heralding a new message will be the background notes for the week as everyone shares info of meet-ups, tales of late flights, and photos of the various meetings going on.
The start of the day was a two-staged breakfast. The first group of early risers included a small group from Asia, representing Taiwan, Singapore and Japan, with a few of the Europeans from Switzerland, Germany and me, still flying the flag for Europe. There has been lots of exciting projects across Asia in the last 12 months, including the introduction of a Visa system for entrepreneurs and new exchange programmes for entrepreneurs and news of a new three phase support programme. A short trip to the convention centre for registration was another opportunity to network, this time in the bus I had the opportunity to hear more about what is happening to support entrepreneurs in Bermuda. The empty convention centre looked stunning, I have spoken at the convention centre before, but it certainly looked nothing like this!
